The folks over at Auto Express have a cutaway view of the NSX's gizzards, and what lurks beneath the creased and chevroned skin of the next do-it-all-faster supercar could be good for a few extra heartbeats. We do hope, however, that these exterior renderings are quite a ways off. Otherwise, it might not be so bad if Acura offers a cutaway version of the actual car so that you don't have to see its body, because even under the camo, the new NSX is shaping up to be um, homely.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/231327/under_the_skin_of_allnew_nsx.html">Auto Express</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/under-the-skin-of-the-2010-acura-nsx/">Under the skin of the 2010 Acura NSX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 19 Nov 2008 09:30:00 EST. Top Speed has rendered unto us what such an enigma might look like, and, well, it ain't all bad. That's probably because it looks like an MDX with a descending roofline out back. Of course, it's impossible to know how much of any rendering is pure fiction, but The Majestic Shield of Acura matched with those lights and a proper amount of real estate could be the ideal pairing of design features and suitable canvas. Porsche's floating LEDs in the front bumper don't go astray, either. We still can't say it makes sense, but Acura, if you're really going to do this, have a look here first.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/acura-new-cuv-rendering-ar66409.html">Top Speed</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/05/rendered-speculation-acura-x6-fighter/">Rendered Speculation: Acura X6 fighter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 05 Nov 2008 12:02:00 EST. <div align="center"><small><em><strong>Click above for high-res gallery of the 2009 Acura TSX</strong></em></small><br /></div>
<br />At the 2008 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Detroit-Auto-Show/">Detroit Auto Show</a>, Acura showed off a new 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine and announced it would debut a production version in 2009. Informed speculation says that the oilburner would be equipped in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/23/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-acura-tsx/">new TSX</a>, a re-badged version of the European Honda Accord that currently offers the engine. Honda engineers have even presented documents outlining the new exhaust developed for the engine in the last two editions of the Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress. <br /><br />Unfortunately, it looks like we might not get a chance to sample a diesel TSX in the U.S. after all. An anonymous poster on the <em>MotorTrend</em> forums is claiming that Honda has not been able to pass emissions certification with the automatic transmission TSX diesel. The manual transmission version is fine, but the poster claims there wouldn't be enough demand in the U.S. market for the manual-only model and Honda will therefore drop the diesel altogether. We don't know if this is true, and Acura has not yet responded to our request for a comment. It will most like be a "no comment" anyway. <br /><br />For what it's worth, we're suitably dubious about the source and the information, particularly considering that modern cars with electronically controlled automatic transmissions typically perform better on emissions and fuel economy. This is primarily due to the engineer's ability to have more control over the interaction between the engine and the transmission, and less to do with the person behind the wheel. Hopefully the story is untrue, because it would be nice to finally get a Honda/Acura with some low end torque.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2009-acura-tsx/">Autoblog Garage: 2009 Acura TSX</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2009-acura-tsx/811738/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/09-acura-tsx-review-1280-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2009-acura-tsx/811707/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/09-acura-tsx-review-1280-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2009-acura-tsx/811742/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/09-acura-tsx-review-1280-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2009-acura-tsx/811716/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/09-acura-tsx-review-1280-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/autoblog-garage-2009-acura-tsx/811715/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/09-acura-tsx-review-1280-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://forums.motortrend.com/70/7104766/the-general-forum/diesel-tsx-is-a-no-go-but-a-v6-is-coming/index.html">Motor Trend Forum</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/27/acura-diesel-doa-will-the-tsx-diesel-get-dropped-in-favor-of-a/">Is the Acura TSX diesel DOA?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 27 Oct 2008 08:31:00 EST. Of late, however, the Acura side of the house seems to be making some very odd decisions. There is the most obvious front and center example - the new shield grille, which one dealer has taken it upon himself <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/20/acura-dealer-takes-the-tls-nose-in-for-rhinoplasty/">to fix</a>. Then the other day came news that Honda CEO Takeo Fukui has confirmed the next-gen top-of-the-line Acura sedan will use the company's <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/10/20/acura-may-buck-the-trend-and-add-a-v8-engine-to-next-rl/">first V8 engine</a>. This comes at the same time other manufacturers are abandoning new V8 engine programs due to falling sales and high fuel prices. No doubt Honda's answer to the V8 question will be something at least slightly different than what we've seen from Infiniti and Lexus. <br /><br />The latest head scratcher may well be the biggest of all. Since it's debut, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/11/first-drive-2009-bmw-x6-xdrive35i-and-xdrive50i/">BMW X6</a> has had many of us pondering why it exists. Apparently the team at Acura understands, since they have created a "sport activity coupe"/crossover thingy of their own. The X6 hasn't exactly been flying off dealer lots in the U.S. since it went on sale six months ago, so the obvious question is why make another? We certainly don't know the answer, but judging by this prototype with an Acura shield grille visible under the camo that was spotted recently at the N&uuml;rburgring, Honda does. <em>Thanks to Luke for the tip!</em><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://globalmotors.net/2010-acura-crossover-prototype-spied-near-nurburgring/">GlobalMotors.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/21/spy-shots-has-acura-gone-mad-x6-competitor-spotted-on-the-rin/">Spy Shots: Has Acura gone mad? And to make matters worse, not only is "The Shield" employed on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/MDX/">MDX</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/TSX/">TSX</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/TL/">TL</a>, it's expected to infect the rest of Acura's lineup into the next decade.<br /><br />We're still far from convinced that the new nose was a smart move, but we've conceded that it doesn't look nearly as bad on a silver TSX, matching the lines and the color to slightly better effect.<br /><br />An Acura dealer seems to have a similar idea, and after taking delivery of one burgundy TL, had the grille painted to match the rest of the exterior. Not Mazda rotary, miller-cycle or tiny V6 special, but a bit off the beaten path and resistant to market trends. For decades the Japanese automaker insisted on making engines that rotate the opposite direction than the rest of the industry (in line with its motorcycle roots), and took what seemed like an eternity to go back on its founders aversions to any more than four cylinders. Well, as anyone who's stepped into an Acura dealership knows, a V6 still doesn't cut it when you're trying to lure customers away from the likes of Lexus and BMW. And the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/09/2009-acura-tl-fully-revealed/">new TL</a> may have the company's most powerful V6 to date, but even in today's socio-economic climate, luxury consumers still want V8 muscle. Reports now indicate that Honda is <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/13/spy-shots-2011-acura-rl/">ready to cough it up</a>.</p>
<p>The confirmation reportedly comes straight from Honda CEO Takeo Fukui, who says that a V8 engine will be earmarked towards the company's luxury brand Acura. No official word on where the eight-cylinder engine will land, but we can expect it to find its way into the engine bay of the top-of-the-line <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-acura-reveals-2009-rl-more-style-more-power-mor/">RL</a> and probably an SUV, as well. Fukui reportedly promises his V8 will be highly efficient, but while we won't expect it to rotate in the opposite direction, it promises to plug the gap between the company's existing V6s and the V10 in the highly anticipated <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/29/i-inside-line-i-does-its-thing-on-the-160k-acura-nsx/">successor to the NSX</a>.</p>

<br />Up for grabs and with 56 bids registered bids, we have eBay item number: 270287784055. The lucky top bidder gets a Ferrari 360 Modena <em>and</em> an Acura NSX, but only needs <em>one</em> parking spot. The product description explains the impossible, while almost making this thing sound appealing. "The best parts of both cars were used to build an exclusive new vehicle. The appearance comes from the Ferrari 360 Modena, the quality and reliability from [a] Honda NSX... this is definitely no comparison to the Toyota MR2, Peugeot 306, or Pontiac Fierro [sic] conversions..."<br /><br />So you get a 94,000 km, 300 hp, Acura NSX with a custom body and interior that make it look something like a Ferrari 360. Lighter, more reliable, and cheaper to maintain than a Ferrari, presumably more lust-worthy than a stock-bodied NSX, and all for just EUR 25,500.<br /><br />While the front and rear views might make you think it's a real Ferrari at first glance, that NSX greenhouse makes any other angle a dead giveaway. The builder didn't do a bad job, but it's just another project that has us scratching our heads and asking, "Why?" It's in Zurich, Switzerland if you're interested. <em>Thanks for the tip, Emanuel!</em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ferracura-360-nsx/">Ferracura 360 NSX</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ferracura-360-nsx/1104683/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/ferracura4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ferracura-360-nsx/1104667/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/ferracura01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ferracura-360-nsx/1104671/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/ferracura02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ferracura-360-nsx/1104669/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/ferracura03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ferracura-360-nsx/1104665/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/ferracura05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Ferrari-360-Modena-Honda-NSX-Weltweites-Unikat-2-in-1_W0QQitemZ270287784055QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270287784055&amp;_trkparms=72%3A1229">eBay Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/18/ebay-find-of-the-day-ferrari-nsx-ferracura-360-nsx/">eBay Find of the Day: Ferrari + NSX = Ferracura 360 NSX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 18 Oct 2008 13:58:00 EST. <br />Acura is again tossing enthusiasts a bone with a new six-speed manual transmission option for their 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD model. While the 2009 model is only available with a five-speed automatic with paddle shifters, next year will mark the return of the stick shift -- and the first time Acura has paired their SH-AWD with a manual transmission. The six-speed is all-new, and stronger than the manual last used in the 2008 model. It features a more rigid aluminum case and heavy-duty internals. New gear synchronizers improve accuracy while a standard short-throw shifter improves feel. In addition to the six-speed manual, the TL SH-AWD receives "Hill Start Assistant" to hold the vehicle on hills during a start, and special enthusiast-oriented suspension tuning for flatter cornering. The manual transmission also comes with stiffer engine and transmission bushings, heavy-duty front driveshafts, and stronger CV joints. Best of all, the manual transmission weighs 88 lbs. less than the automatic, moving the TL's weight distribution even further rearward.

<br />Acura's new design language, as seen on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/11/autoblog-first-drive-2009-acura-tl-w-video/">2009 TL</a>, is fronted by a shield-like appendage that has received mixed reviews. The Acura 2+1 -- the numbers describe the seating arrangement -- by design student Leon Paz is what would happen if you took the shield theme to one natural conclusion. By maintaining the edge throughout the concept's "modern baroque styling," Paz has come up we something we kinda dig.<br /><br />The body is fashioned from a plastic that is harder than fiberglass, and Paz has done a great job in creating lines that evoke skin stretched over a frame. The upper surface is one continuous window that shows off the twin-turbo V6 and the Acura logo for the cylinder covers. There is no hood -- at your yearly service, the dealer would lift the glass and perform any engine maintenance. <br /><br />The 2+1 would be an aspirational step for those who want an NSX but can't afford one yet. Based on what we've seen of the NSX so far, we'd probably rather have the 2+1. However, our most pressing question about the car isn't about the design -- we really want to know what is the meaning of "OW AHH" scrolled in LED's across the rear? Check out the gallery of high-res images below, and maybe you can tell us...<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/acura-2-1-concept/">Acura 2+1 Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/acura-2-1-concept/1046219/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/acura_21_concept_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/acura-2-1-concept/1046221/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/acura_21_concept_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/acura-2-1-concept/1046224/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/acura_21_concept_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/acura-2-1-concept/1046220/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/acura_21_concept_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/acura-2-1-concept/1046226/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/acura_21_concept_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.diseno-art.com/encyclopedia/concept_cars/acura_2+1.html">Diseno Art</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/20/acura-2-1-design-study-takes-superman-shield-to-next-level/">Acura 2+1 design study takes superman shield to next level</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 20 Sep 2008 10:56:00 EST. <br />Acura has finally revealed the pricing structure of its new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/11/autoblog-first-drive-2009-acura-tl-w-video/">2009 TL sedan</a>, and the base price jumps to $34,995, a little over a thousand bucks more than the last entry-level model. Replacing last year's Type-S is a new model with a version of Acura's SH-AWD and, at 305-horsepower, the most powerful V6 that parent company Honda has ever offered for sale. That top-level model will run you $38,505, which is pretty close to what the abandoned Type-S went for last year, though standard navigation is dropped. Adding the Technology Package -- which includes niceties like GPS, keyless access, push-button start and the Acura/ELS Surround sound audio system we liked so much when we got our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/11/autoblog-first-drive-2009-acura-tl-w-video/">first drive</a> -- to either model will add about $4K to the asking price. <br /><br />The looks are extremely polarizing, and these price increases aren't likely to win over the TL's detractors. Without that 'S' on his chest, Clark Kent quickly got the crap kicked out of him by a truck driver. If the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-acura-reveals-2009-rl-more-style-more-power-mor/">2009 Acura RL</a> (right) with its giant shield grille is Superman, then the Euro-only 2009 Honda Legend is surely Clark Kent. So many people have decried the new shield grille that we thought it'd be interesting to gauge reaction to the new Legend, which is basically the same car as the RL without the Acura overtones. To our eyes the Legend's new face is as boring and uninteresting as Acura's new grille is obnoxious, which truly does it make it the Clark Kent of cars.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-legend-3/">2009 Honda Legend</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-legend-3/1014062/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/000_2009hondalegend_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-legend-3/1014067/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/001_2009hondalegend_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-legend-3/1014068/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/002_2009hondalegend_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-legend-3/1014069/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/003_2009hondalegend_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-honda-legend-3/1014066/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/004_2009hondalegend_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://es.autoblog.com/2008/08/30/honda-presenta-el-nuevo-legend-2009-mas-porte-mas-potencia/">Autoblog Spanish</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/02/2009-honda-legend-reveals-de-shielded-acura-rl/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2009 Honda Legend reveals de-shielded Acura RL</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/02/2009-honda-legend-reveals-de-shielded-acura-rl/">2009 Honda Legend reveals de-shielded Acura RL</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 02 Sep 2008 16:29:00 EST. The sports car race is back this year as the ninth round of the American Le Mans Series. For those who have never checked out an ALMS race, it's one of the best and most exciting forms of motorsport anywhere. Highcroft Racing's Acura ARX-01B captured the pole and led much of the first half of the race ahead of the De Ferran Racing Acura. If you TiVoed the race and don't want to ruin the surprise, you can just check out the gallery and come back later to see the full results after the jump. Otherwise, you know what to do.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-sports-car-challenge-08/">Detroit Sports Car Challenge 08</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-sports-car-challenge-08/1008978/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/dspc08-1280-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-sports-car-challenge-08/1008952/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/dspc08-1280-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-sports-car-challenge-08/1008962/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/dspc08-1280-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-sports-car-challenge-08/1008968/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/dspc08-1280-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-sports-car-challenge-08/1008939/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/dspc08-1280-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Photos Copyright (C)2008 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/31/detroit-grand-prix-08-the-detroit-sports-car-challenge-spoiler/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Detroit Grand Prix 08: The Detroit Sports Car Challenge (Spoiler Alert)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/31/detroit-grand-prix-08-the-detroit-sports-car-challenge-spoiler/">Detroit Grand Prix 08: The Detroit Sports Car Challenge (Spoiler Alert)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 31 Aug 2008 09:02:00 EST. Honda's premium brand entered ALMS in the lighter LMP2 class at the beginning of 2007 with the Highcroft, Fernandez and Andretti-Green teams and won a single race that year. This year De Ferran motorsports has joined the lineup and Acura has four victories, including an overall win at Lime Rock in early July. <br /><br />For 2009, De Ferran and Highcroft will run the all new ARX-02A LMP1 car, while Fernandez and possibly one other team will continue with the LMP2 program. No mention was made of AGR. The new car is being developed in cooperation with existing partner Wirth Research in the UK. Honda Performance Development president Erik Berkman declined to reveal any other details about the new car. However, with the currently dominant P1 cars in North America and Europe being the diesel powered Audis and Peugeots, and a production diesel joining the Acura lineup next spring, a diesel powered ARX-02A would seem a likely choice. The new car will debut at the 2009 12 Hours of Sebring in March, but Berkman said no decision has been made on a Le Mans run yet.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.americanlemans.com/News/Article.aspx?ID=4733">Acura</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/29/detroit-grand-prix-08-acura-racing-with-the-big-boys-enters-lm/">Detroit Grand Prix 08: Acura racing with the big boys, enters LMP1 for 09</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 29 Aug 2008 14:58:00 EST. And of all the models that could have benefited from a serious performance injection later in life, the NSX was a prime candidate.<br /><br />Thankfully, <a href="http://www.spoon.jp/eng/">Spoon Sports</a>, a long-time motorsport partner with Honda, will rectify the matter by converting left-hand-drive US-spec NSXs into NSX-Rs. The conversion involves a long list of modifications, including stiffer springs and shocks, larger anti-roll bars, forged 17-inch wheels, a shorter final-drive gear ratio, slotted brake rotors, flat underbody trays and a rear diffuser. Part of the NSX-R's appeal was a product of Honda's desire to keep weight in check, so in order to get as close to the JDM version's 2,800-pound curb weight, Spoon will replace the hood, rear spoiler and seats with carbon fiber pieces, fit a smaller battery, manually-adjustable mirrors, thinner rear window glass, lightweight carpets and will rip out all of the sound deadening material and replace the spare tire with a can of expanding goo.<br /><br />Spoon hasn't released details on how much the conversion will cost or when it will begin taking orders, but if it has Honda's blessing on the project, expect to see the first few models on the road just ahead of the new NSX's launch in 2010.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-nsx-r/">Honda NSX-R</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-nsx-r/989097/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/01_nsx-r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-nsx-r/989103/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/02_nsx-r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-nsx-r/989099/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/03_nsx-r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-nsx-r/989098/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/04_nsx-r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-nsx-r/989100/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/05_nsx-r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://jpcnews.blogspot.com/2008/08/spoon-to-convert-lhd-usdm-nsxs-to-type.html">JPCNews</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/20/spoon-to-recreate-nsx-type-r-in-lhd-trim-for-u-s/">Spoon to recreate NSX Type-R in LHD trim for U.S.</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 20 Aug 2008 18:58:00 EST. Beginning with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/06/chicago-2008-acura-reveals-2009-rl-more-style-more-power-mor/">RL in Chicago</a>, Acura has rolled out its new design ethos intended to make these cars stand out in the increasingly crowded entry luxury segment. When we first showed you the RL, it got what would charitably be described as a negative reception. The new shield grille design was almost universally reviled both in the media and amongst you readers. By the time the entry-level <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/27/first-drive-2009-acura-tsx/">TSX</a> arrived a month later, reactions softened somewhat as people became accustomed to the look. In its first few months on the street, sales of the new TSX have jumped more than 20 percent compared to the old model.<br id="c:oa" /><br id="c:oa0" />The last to arrive and arguably the best looking of the three is the mid-level TL, which arrives this September to replace the best selling sedan in Acura's lineup. Acura invited us to New York to sample its new mainstream model on the roads of Connecticut and the Empire State in mid-July. While the TL was the last to be unveiled, it is actually the first and only one of the three sedans to be completely designed around this new look. Read more about the new TL and our first drive impressions after the jump. <br id="bdzy" /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-acura-tl/">First Drive: 2009 Acura TL</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-acura-tl/967175/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-1280-07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-acura-tl/967196/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-1280-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-acura-tl/967190/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-1280-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-acura-tl/967189/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-1280-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-acura-tl/967187/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-1280-17_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl-1/">2009 Acura TL</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl-1/967052/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-sh-awd_act_08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl-1/967162/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-sh-awd_act_19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl-1/967050/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-details-001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl-1/967060/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-details-002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl-1/967161/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/acura-tl-details-003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos Copyright (C)2008 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/11/autoblog-first-drive-2009-acura-tl-w-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Autoblog First Drive: 2009 Acura TL [w/VIDEO]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/11/autoblog-first-drive-2009-acura-tl-w-video/">Autoblog First Drive: 2009 Acura TL [w/VIDEO]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 11 Aug 2008 20:02:00 EST. As has been previously reported, there are two versions: a base 3.5L front-drive car with 285 horses and the range-topping TL SH-AWD, which gets a 305-horsepower <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/967226/">3.7L V6</a>. The Type S is history, replaced in essence by the SH-AWD. Both TL models are mated to 5-speed automatics, and a stiffer chassis should help make time spent behind the wheel more engaging.<br /><br />Inside, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/967228/">layout</a> is one that should be familiar to anyone who's spent time in a new Honda or Acura. Metallic-look wings arc out from a center stack topped by a multifunction LCD screen and finished at the bottom by Honda's all-in-one controller for audio/info/nav interfaces. In short, techno-gadgetry abounds. The new TL is a larger car than it predecessor, with a 1.4-inch longer wheelbase and 6.2 inches added to its overall length. Consequently, interior space also improves over the outgoing sedan.<br /><br />While the current-gen TL is Acura's most attractive vehicle, we have a feeling the new-for-2009 edition may not age as gracefully. The new corporate shield grille is in place, adding bling to the nose and offering enough frontal reflective surface to repel a Klingon phaser bombardment. If you miss the obviously-an-Acura front end, you might need to do a double-take to recognize in profile thanks to a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/967236/">C-pillar kink</a> that apes BMW...and Infiniti, and the Jaguar XF, just to name a few. Out back, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/967232/">trunklid</a> repeats the shield motif that started up front. Regarding the car's styling, there's much for you to discuss in the comments below. Stay tuned for plenty more information and our first drive impressions of the new TL in the days to come.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/">2009 Acura TL</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/967230/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/09.acura.tl.act.f34.1.500_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/967231/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/09.acura.tl.act.f34.2.500_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/967232/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/09.acura.tl.act.r34.500_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/967227/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/09.acura.tl.f34.500_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-acura-tl/967236/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/09.acura.tl.r34.500_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=130497#14">Inside Line</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/09/2009-acura-tl-fully-revealed/">2009 Acura TL fully revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 09 Aug 2008 09:22:00 EST. The vehicle appears to be similar in shape to the BMW X6 despite the heavy camouflaging obscuring its profile. The windshield is very steeply raked and the shape of the cutout allowing the grille to breathe is reminiscent of Acura's new Superman-shaped grilles. Indeed, even the wheel and tire combination suggests that this is a crossover with sporting intentions. It may be a big brother to the RDX with more athletic moves than the MDX. Still, we can't help but wonder why Acura would be working on yet another crossover with those two already in its lineup, especially considering the market's current exodus to passenger cars. Check out more spy shots of the vehicle in question below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-honda-acura-sport-crossover/">Spy Shots: Honda/Acura sport crossover</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-honda-acura-sport-crossover/960231/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/00_acuracross_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-honda-acura-sport-crossover/960233/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/01_acuracross_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-honda-acura-sport-crossover/960236/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/02_acuracross_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-honda-acura-sport-crossover/960235/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/03_acuracross_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-honda-acura-sport-crossover/960232/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/04_acuracross_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: KGP Photography]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/05/spy-shots-acuras-new-sport-crossover-caught-under-cover-of-nig/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Spy Shots: Acura's new sport crossover caught under cover of night</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/05/spy-shots-acuras-new-sport-crossover-caught-under-cover-of-nig/">Spy Shots: Acura's new sport crossover caught under cover of night</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 05 Aug 2008 10:29:00 EST. Dan Bonawitz, Honda's vice president of corporate planning and logistics believes that broadening Acura's line of vehicles is the way to compete with Audi, BMW and Mercedes.<br /><br />The first step is to introduce an all-new vehicle that will arrive before the new NSX in 2010. A coupe is a possibility, filling the gap left by the dearly departed RSX and older CL. A retractable hardtop could be part of the package, and there's also talk of a four-door "coupe" that could contend with the M-B CLS and Audi's upcoming A7.<br /><br />Whatever it is, it needs to be packing more than a just a four-pot driving the front wheels. A serious competitor the 1-series would be a welcome addition to the Acura line, and would fulfill the automaker's previous claim of pursuing niches generally left unfilled by other luxury brands.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/article/20080804/ANA03/120765640/1178/rss02&amp;rssfeed=rss02">Automotive News</a> - Sub. True to its name, Inside Line<em> </em>has put together what it believes is an accurate depiction - both visually and technically - of the newest challenger for Japanese supercar domination.</p>
<p>The first thing to know about the new NSX is that its emphasis will be on aerodynamics. Honda's F1 team may have yet to reach the pinnacle of success on the circuit, but that doesn't mean the company hasn't learned a few tricks in the process. For starters, the entire rear end of the car is tipped to act as a giant wing, generating prodigious amounts of downforce where soon-to-be archrivals Lexus LF-A and Nissan GT-R use heavy rear transaxles to keep the tail planted and the weight balanced. At an estimated 3256 lbs (you know, give or take), the NSX is also expected to come in a good 550 lbs lighter than Nissan's beast. Based on sources within Honda, Inside Line<em> </em>has come up with what they feel is an close prediction of how the NSX will look, and then proceed to call it boring. What lies underneath, however, is tipped to be a 5.5-liter V10 pumping more than 600 hp and 433 lb-ft of torque through a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and the company's Super Handling AWD system. </p>
<p>With an anticipated $160,000 price tag, the new Honda supercar will have some dangerous competition. However developmental test mules of the NSX have already reportedly managed to lap the vaunted Nurburgring Nordschleiffe in a <em>blitzschnell </em>7:37 on their first attempt. Once everything's tweaked to perfection, though, the NSX is easily expected to drop below 7:30. How far below will remain to be seen. With Japan, America and Europe's best vying for the top slot, the heat is on.</p>
